Amman, Jordan

Hotel info, suggestions, tips for your stay

The ancient rock-cut city of Petra in Jordan, featuring a tomb carved into pink sandstone cliffs with a crowd of tourists at the base.

Pre-Wedding Adventure – Petra

We’re planning a group trip to the ancient city of Petra on Thursday, October 23rd, and would love for as many of you as possible to join us. It’s one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and absolutely worth the hike (and the group photos). More details on logistics and pricing will follow — but pencil it in!

Where To Stay

While the wedding is at the Dead Sea, we expect most guests will base themselves in Amman, the capital, where you’ll find the best options for dining, sightseeing, and travel connections. The Dead Sea is about an hour away, so we recommend staying in Amman before and after the wedding, with the option to spend a night or two at the Dead Sea if you’d like to relax, float, or simply recover post-dancing.

For Amman, we recommend either the Amman Rotana (sleek and sophisticated) or the W Amman (young and hip), both are a minute walk from each other and Abdali Boulevard - an eclectic parade of shops, cafes and restaurants for your convenience.

Suggested Itinerary

For guests spending 3 days in Amman + 2 days at the Dead Sea

Day 1 – Arrival in Amman & Old City Exploring

  • Arrive in Amman and check into your hotel (areas like Jabal Amman or Weibdeh are great picks).

  • Afternoon: Visit the Amman Citadel and Roman Theater, both packed with history and views.

  • Wander the local souks, pick up a few treasures, and grab a snack on the go.

  • Dinner at Hashem Restaurant (legendary falafel) or Sufra for a cozy Jordanian meal.

  • Sweet ending? Knafeh from Habibah Sweets — absolutely worth it.

Day 2 – Petra Day Trip (Thursday, October 23)

  • Early departure for a full-day trip to Petra — approx. 3 hours each way.

  • Spend the day walking through the Siq, marvelling at the Treasury, and exploring the stunning ruins.

  • Return to Amman in the evening, likely tired but very satisfied.

  • Optional light dinner or straight to bed — you’ve earned it.

Day 3 – Amman Like a Local

  • Late breakfast, then head to Jabal Al-Weibdeh for art galleries, street murals, and relaxed cafés.

  • Coffee at Rumi Café, with bonus people-watching.

  • Explore the Jordan Museum or take a leisurely visit to the Royal Automobile Museum.

  • Afternoon walk down Rainbow Street, with stops for snacks, books, or rooftop views.

  • Dinner at Cantaloupe or Books@Cafe to wrap up your Amman stay in style.

Day 4 – Dead Sea Arrival & Relaxation

  • Check out of your Amman hotel and drive to the Dead Sea (around 1 hour).

  • Check in at the Kempinski Ishtar or nearby resort.

  • Enjoy an afternoon of floating, mud masks, or just poolside lounging.

  • Casual dinner and early night — or spa time if you’re feeling indulgent.

Day 5 – The Wedding Day! (Sunday, October 26)

  • Easy, slow morning at the resort — perfect for some last-minute pampering.

  • Light lunch, then get dressed and ready for the main event.

  • Ceremony & celebration at Kempinski Ishtar Dead Sea — we can’t wait to share this moment with you!
